Beds are Complicated

The dogs have a confusing relationship with beds. Sometimes they hit the bed perfectly and it looks so snuggly comfy.

“Zzzz…”

Sometimes they try to lay on the bed but don’t quite land correctly…

Or they lean casually against the bed without actually being on it…

Or one dog tries to lay on both beds at once…

Or they try to fit two dogs on the same bed at once…

Or one dog on the bed and the other under it…

Or sleep with one one(1) paw on the bed…

Echo also likes to use his nose to scoot the beds around until they’re where he wants them.

“I’m trying to move this bed and the bookcase is in the way, very annoying!”

It’s all very exciting, I never know what they’re going to do next.

The sheep are also having drama over sleeping arrangements. Liam, Lana, Nina and Neo have exclusive rights to the private suite so they don’t get harassed at night, but Angel every night stands in the doorway to the barn and tries to stop the Shetlands in general and Liam in particular from coming in. Liam, having a healthy sense of self preservation, refuses to even approach the barn until I shoo Angel away or at least stand between them to block her view while he runs in.

“I’m not a clever Soay but I’m not stupid!”

Lately, as if that wasn’t enough, she’s started not wanting to let Liam out of the barn in the mornings, with the result he now won’t even start to get up (a slow process with creaky knees) until I’ve chased Angel out. Which is not easy, because bottle babies are almost impossible to chase off.

“What’s does ‘shoo’ mean? Never mind I don’t care where are my treats?

I’m not sure very fat sheep naughty sheep who bully their pasturemates should get treats.

No, no treats for Angel! Only me!”

They both know they don’t get treats in the morning, but hope springs eternal.

And I’ve just been told that today at home Blue has decided to drag his porch bed all the way to the far end of the yard.

“I don’t want the bed on the porch I want it here in the grass!”

Goodness. Who knew sleeping could cause so much drama?
